Update after category rename[edit]
At d:Q118917882#P373 and a few others, I noticed the bot doesn't update the category after the rename here. Maybe this is due to the reference mentioned there. Enhancing999 (talk) 13:36, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Enhancing999: The code for this task is at [1]. It runs a query to find mismatched sitelinks+P373 values and then tries to resolve them if one points to the other. The problem is, there are too many that the bot can't fix, so they are clogging up the system. The script breaks the query into sets of 100, and runs up to 7200, before the query times out on the server side. I've added a try/except to see if I can get it to run a bit further, let's see if that helps. Ideally, P373 would just be deleted, and we could only use the sitelinks rather than duplicating the info in a non-auto-updating property. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 18:58, 14 April 2024 (UTC)

- @Taylor 49: Please propose it at Module talk:WikidataIB and en:Module talk:WikidataIB, and make the suggested edit at Module:WikidataIB/sandbox. If I remember right, it was added as a check to make sure that only local variables were used, and it was required by someone on enwiki, so discussing it there is particularly important, since the code is kept in sync between enwiki and commons (and elsewhere). - @LennardHofmann: It seems I need to update WikidataIB here anyway, so it would be good to sync at the same time. Although I think Commons is actually the later version, so it might need a merge the other way. If you could have a look at this, that would be great. - This is a coursebook example of stubborn obstructive bureaucracy. Here:
- It's not a possibility, it's a fact. But you "unimpressed by the communications" repeatedly refused to check the relevant facts, and instead made useless obstructive and unrelated demands (such as performing tasks done long ago, see above).

- @Taylor 49: You abruptly demanded that I make an edit to a template with millions of uses, with no links to any technical explanations of why the edit should be made. I asked for links to discussions, you didn't provide any. I spent time to track the issue back to the phabricator ticket, which you could have linked to from the start. There are still unresolved issues about this migration process, raised in the phabricator ticket. This is not stubborn obstructive bureaucracy, it's just trying to understand the issue. - Sure I could have linked more. But the crucial fact mw:Extension:Scribunto/Lua_reference_manual#strict is mentioned at Module:No globals linked at the very top. And the argument "millions of uses" doesn't bite for removal of an obviously outdated comment line. A line beginning with
