Category[edit]
(Copied from User talk:OSX) Hi, thank you for your advice. I have a question for you: how can we eliminate the categories?
Navigator84 17:53, 15 April 2009 (UTC+1)
- Hi, first of all I would go to "My preferences" --> Gadgets --> and select the boxes "Cat-a-lot" and "Hot Cat". These tools will make it much easier for you to rename the categories. Note: After saving, you have to bypass your browser's cache to see the changes. Internet Explorer: press Ctrl-F5, Mozilla: hold down Shift while clicking Reload (or press Ctrl-Shift-R), Opera/Konqueror: press F5, Safari: press Cmd-Opt-E.
- I'll let you work out how to use them for yourself, but if you can't just ask me and I'll try and guide you.
- Now back to your original question. When you've used the above tools to batch re-categorise the images, you will need to create the category page. To delete the old category, use the following template, {{badname|new name of category}}. An administrator will then delete the old one for you. OSX (talk • contributions) 01:41, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- P.S. Please remember to use the category naming conventions. Rather than using "Category:Second-generation Pontiac Vibe" use "Category:Pontiac Vibe (second generation)". Cheers OSX (talk • contributions) 01:39, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- Just quickly, could you please use "second generation" instead of "2nd generation" as you did for Category:Cadillac CTS (2nd generation)? OSX (talk • contributions) 05:32, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi, to add to the above, when using model codes in category names, make sure the codes go in parentheses too. Rather than using "Category:Ford Escape ZD" use "Category:Ford Escape (ZD)". On the subject of the Ford Escape, et al. please do not make such drastic categorical changes unless you know the subject well enough. The "ZC" and "ZD" codes are used only in Australasia (not North America, et cetera) to designate the 2006 and 2008 updates of the Escape. The original Australasian Ford Escapes (2001–2006) utilised the codes, "BA", "ZA", and "ZB". As a result, I have separated the category into generations. The Mazda Tribute and Mercury Mariner versions of the Escape also definitely do not utilise the ZC and ZD codes. OSX (talk • contributions) 08:38, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

- Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
- State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
- If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
- Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
- Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.
If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.
It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.
You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.
Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.
Thank you. This message was added automatically by Nikbot, if you need some help about it, ask its master (Filnik) or go to the Commons:Help desk. --Filnik 21:55, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:02, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Your Flickr uploads[edit]
Hello Navigator84!
Thanks a lot for your contributions! Thank you for uploading images from Flickr! Two hints ahead:
- Always upload the highest resolution of a photograph that is available on flickr
- You can use this tool for your flickr uploads. It makes the hole procedure much easier and faster for you

Category discussion notification | Category:Oldsmobile_Silhouette_(second_generation) has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. |

Uploads[edit]
Thanks for all your uploads of Chinese vehicles. Nice to see my blurry little crops becoming superseded by much better images. Cheers, mr.choppers (talk)-en- 17:50, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- I just want to help. I had a big opportunity to live in Shanghai for 4 months, thus I am going to try to photograph a maximum of chinese cars. Do I have to mask number plates? If yes, I manage not at the good to make it, somebody would have to help me. In China, there are lots of Minivan of chinese brands but I don't know these brands, so I will upload these in Chinese automobile category. Your work is fantastic, thank so much !! Navigator84 03:56, 11 April 2012 (UTC+1)
- I will be more than happy to help identifying these minivans; taking notes on number codes on the trunk (like "SQL7394" and that sort of stuff) helps immensely. I would also appreciate pictures of the Tianjin Xiali - they are so common that no one has ever been interested in providING a good photograph of one. Enjoy your stay, I hope you get to see lots and lots of interesting stuff. If you really want to see some interesting things I would recommend contacting the China Vehicle Documentation Centre. They respond very quickly to emails and can sometimes get people entry into private car collections and museums. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 04:15, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- That Shanghai Maple is indeed horrible! Thanks for sharing - by the time your trip is over, and if you don't find any un-stickered such cars, I will try to photoshop them all away. Keep the pics coming! mr.choppers (talk)-en- 06:11, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry for this bad picture >_< I need of your help. I have photagraphed some chinese cars which I don't know. http://i46.tinypic.com/10893kl.jpg. I think it is a Nanjing Soyat 7150/Unique. But I don't sure. Navigator84 17:16, 28 April 2012 (UTC+1)
- I believe it is a Nanjing Yuejin Encore NJ6400 (I believe that the "Unique" name was only applied to the Van version, and after a facelift with a more rounded grille), but it's hard to see precisely with these bizarre little manufacturers. Also see here. It could have been built last week with a pile of leftover grilles... Sorry I didn't see this before, please go ahead and upload it! I have been searching for a shot of one of these. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 20:29, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
Fiat Viaggio[edit]
Hi Navigator84 can you photograph the Fiat Viaggio? Because on commons there aren't photo of this car :(( --Corvettec6r (talk) 11:18, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- Hello corvettec6r !! I'm sorry but I'm currently in my home in France. I was in China from April to August this year for an intership. But I will go to China 10 days in February 2013. I will try to find one to take a picture :) But if you have an address of a Fiat dealer in Shanghai, please let me know !! I photographed some Fiat vehicles : Palio (hatch, sedan and Wagon), Perla, Freemont and Bravo. Bye, happy holidays !! Navigator84, Talk 17:16, 23 December 2012 (UTC+1)
okok Navigator84 :) and can you upload the photo of chinese Palio and Perla? I can't speak english and on the GAC Fiat site i can't find the address of Fiat Shanghai http://www.gacfiatauto.com/ :( --Corvettec6r (talk) 19:47, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
and Happy Holidays :):) i live in Italy but the Palio isn't sold, there are only Panda and Punto :)--Corvettec6r (talk) 19:49, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- I took this photo in Beijing (http://i50.tinypic.com/o5yfbr.jpg), is it the Perla ? I'm not sure. The Palio was built in China by Nanjing-Fiat joint-venture until 2007. The facelift Multipla and the old Palio are still building in China by a small chinese carmaker (Zotye : http://www.zotye.com/). And now, it's GAC-Fiat which are building the Viaggio sedan and soon the hatchback version and maybe the new Panda in 2013 (http://www.carnewschina.com/2012/12/21/patent-applied-fiat-panda-will-come-to-china/) sorry it's in english. I like this blog on the chinese car market created by a very friendly dutch man who living in China. I can't promis you to take a picture of the Viaggio, but I will try. I will stay 10 days in Shanghai, but 3 days in a wine trade show. In 5 months, I didn't see many Italian cars, mainly Fiat Palio and Ferraris, but I saw one time an Alfa 156, a Lancia Thesis (using by the Italian consulate in Shanghai) and an Abarth 500 (see my photos for the 500), but the Renault vehicles are also rare ^^ Sorry I don't speak Italian >_< Navigator84, Talk 22:13, 23 December 2012 (UTC+1)
Yes, is a Fiat Perla! :D on it.wikipedia there are the article about Fiat Perla but there aren't a photo http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Perla i have look your photo about Abarth 500, is very rare because the Abarth version don't is import in China :) --Corvettec6r (talk) 14:20, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
- ok !! I will upload it soon !! But I don't understand one thing. In the italian page on wikipedia about Fiat Perla, if I well understood, Fiat had a join venture with Chery Automobiles between 2007 and 2009. But the Perla was built from 2006 to 2009. So, which built the Perla ? Nanjing-Fiat or Chery-Fiat ? And so, Fiat sold licence to Zotye for the Multipla, Siena/Albea/Perla. We can see some Multipla as taxi in Hangzhou (beautiful place in China ^^). The chinese automobile industry is very complicated, but very very interested !! Meery Christmas !! Navigator84, Talk 17:18, 24 December 2012 (UTC+1)
- The Perla! Fantastic!!! Can't wait to see it uploaded. The car was introduced by Nanjing-Fiat, don't know what exactly what happened to Fiat's Chinese subsidiaries in the period concerned. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 20:24, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- Done !! http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fiat_Perla_China_2012-08-09.JPG sorry for the delay >_<. Navigator84, Talk 23:27, 29 December 2012 (UTC+1)
- Great! The Nanjing Ibiza is coming too, right? If you have any more questions about pictures, just go ahead and upload them with whatever name - I can change the names on files, so if anything is misidentified then no worries. Also, you could always take a quick closeup of the text on the trunk. While I don't read Chinese many other people (tons) do. Cheers again. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 22:27, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
thanks for the photo of Perla and Palio Weekend :) and happy new year :))--Corvettec6r (talk) 13:35, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Hey, do you know why these brand new BMW vehicles seem to be leaved there in Shanghai and getting dirty and becoming overgrown? --Thomas doerfer (talk) 16:38, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hello! Honestly, I don't know. I found this big parking next to a BMW dealer on Ziteng Road near of Shanghai's downtown. There is also a Jaguar-Land Rover dealer in front of this. I think, the cars are waiting there before to dispatch to other BMW dealers in Shanghai area. Because all the vehicles I saw are imported from Europe to China by the Shanghai's harbour. There were tens of E92's BMW, 6-Series, 5-Series, X1, X5, Land Rover, Jaguar.... many hundred thousands euros. More photos I took of this place : http://i47.tinypic.com/axyzd1.jpg / http://i46.tinypic.com/315fo1h.jpg / http://i47.tinypic.com/2e1x9mw.jpg Navigator84, Talk 00:43, 04 January 2013 (UTC+1)
- Intriguing - I guess they're in some non-customs no mans land? I was also intrigued by all the photos of very new Changfengs which looked semi-abandoned. You have taken some priceless photos, thanks again for sharing. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 07:44, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- Probably, because they have to wait for a long time. In fact, I took the both Changfeng vehicles and the Englon TX4 (chinese famous-english cabs) in the american-automobile-supplier Delphi's plant situated in one of chinese coastal development areas in Shanghai. I took the photos behind the fence and not in the plant. I believed that these both cars were really new with their disguise but then I checked on Internet and I realized the both cars were already on sale !! I was really disappointed. I will upload more pictures later, because I took about 3.000-3.500 pictures of cars in China, it's a little bit long to upload them ! Because the chinese auto market is now the biggest in the world, but on Wikipedia, there are not lots of pages about chinese cars / cars sold in China; so I hope with pictures, someone will creat more pages about that! Have a nice day. Navigator84, Talk 09:45, 04 January 2013 (UTC+1)

- Sadly it takes me much longer to create an entry for a car than it does for Geely to develop a new one... My prime interest is in those old joint venture cars like the Chinese-built Austin Maestros and Seat Ibizas, so that's where I do most of my work. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 16:46, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- No problem ^^ I didn't know a chinese-built Austin Maestro ... I would like to take a photo of the chinese-built Citroën Visa, sold as a Wuling's model at the beginning of 90's, just 901 vehicles were produced. Navigator84, Talk 10:05, 05 January 2013 (UTC+1)
- Those are probably all disappeared by now, at least according to the experts. Erik Van Ingen Schenau has photographed a few, but unless you're going to Liuzhou (with a good local guide) I don't think there's much of a chance. Would make for a pretty cool pilgrimage, though. Check this out for more on the Lubao Maestro. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 10:10, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
- The other strange thing is, that there are these fuel efficiency-labels in some cars. --Thomas doerfer (talk) 14:40, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
Three Stars[edit]
The Sanxing Voyager is intriguing - it seems they were imported fully built, sans wheels. This allowed the "manufacturer" to pay import taxes at a much lower rate, but not much manufacturing of any sort took place. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 02:44, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- You're right. I don't know why I wrote CKD production. I found this car in a second-hand car market in Shanghai. It's Erik from http://www.chinesecars.net/ who told me about this car. Indeed, the Voyager was imported sans wheels and battery. I will edit the small text I wrote. There are not lots of information about this company, I found this : http://www.chinacartimes.com/2012/08/sighted-china-introducing-chrysler-voyager-chrysler-voyager/ / http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1346&dat=19980609&id=dsJNAAAAIBAJ&sjid=LP0DAAAAIBAJ&pg=6444,6331929 The Sanxing Voyager cost about 44.000 US$ and the imported Chrysler Voyager at this time 56.000 US$. - Oh, I hadn't even realized there was an error, just wanted to share. But I'm glad I could be of help. Keep the photos coming, I hope you get sent into the countryside soon... where the cars are older. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 17:02, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I'm not living in China... I was 5 months last year for an internship and 10 days last month. So, I took many pictures of vehicles in China (about 4-5.000, I uploaded just 1.500 ^^ ). But, I really want to go everywhere in China to see old Chinese cars like Citroën Visa-based Wuling, BYD S8and others. I hope go to China many times in the future. I took photos in Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shanghai and Huangshan. Navigator84, Talk 20:52, 27 March 2013 (UTC+1)

Ford Mondeo cats[edit]
Thanks for creating Category:Ford Mondeo Hybrid. :-) I've added the europe photos back to Category:Ford Mondeo Mk V (sedan) (while keeping the hybrid category) as presumably there will also be hatchback/estate versions of the hybrid, so I'd like to see us continuing to have separate categories for body style and engine type (where the engine type is known). Hope that's OK with you. I'm not sure how the europe/us versioning should be handled here though - any suggestions? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 22:06, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Does Wikimedia really need my photos?[edit]
Hi, this is ChengH, uploader of Hongqi CA7460, Hongqi 774 and Beijing CB4--cars you may had never seen before. I'm a car fans and have plenty of photos about cars (you can see my photos here), but I don't know whether I should upload them. Cars that I have already uploaded to Wikimedia Commons are unique, having few or no pictures otherwise. But other cars already have pictures in Wikimedia Commons; some have plenty. That is, my upload seems to be redundant. Plus, I don't know some of the classic cars and cannot name/categorize them, how should I deal with these photos? Regards,H.C. (talk) 13:35, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hello ChengH! Sure I know you and your fabulous CA7460 spot! I really want to see one in China ... I saw your collection and it is very interesting I think (especially the old Century). In my opinion, you can upload yours pics on Commons. Some cars have already a lot of pics but yours are different because are from Russia/China. It is interesting to see JDM cars in Russia for example. All yours pics are taken in China or/and Russia? If it is in China, you can add the "Automobiles in (Chinese city)" category! Sincerely, Navigator84 Talk 12:17, 28 December 2014 (UTC+1)
- Agree absolutely. And if you upload pictures of unknown cars, mention them on my talkpage and I will identify them (or find someone who knows). Cannot wait to see what else you have. You can also choose to upload slightly smaller versions if you're worried about giving away too much, just not so small that there is no detail. Thanks a lot, and looking forward. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 03:28, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, Navigator84 and Mr.choppers. I've just sorted my pictures and first uploaded a series of classic cars I saw in an exhibition hall. Despite calling myself a petrol head, I don't know many classic cars. So eight pictures in my file list are not categorized yet. Please help add information about them. Thanks in advance!
- There's just about half an hour left for 2014 in China (UTC+8). So here I'd like to wish you happy new year. I'm a senior student in Jilin University and I'll probably go to Germany next year for my Master's program, so maybe we can meet and have a good chat some time! H.C. Jengtingchen's photos[edit]
Hello, I came to get a opinion when it come to editing Jengtingchen's photos. His photos are great and makes a great addition to many Chinese car articles however a lot of them are uncropped, I expierment with a few of them and the results makes them even better but I can't decide to either overwrite it or makes a separate file. I think I can overwrite the files since it counts as "minor cropping" according to COM:CROP but came here to have a opinion of the choices because there a lot of images that could be cropped. --Vauxford (talk) 16:45, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
Wikidata Infobox[edit]
Hi. I spotted that you've been undoing some of pi bot (talk · contribs)'s edits to add the infobox to automobile categories. Is there a problem with them? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 20:52, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- Hello Mike. This current automobile infobox is really pertinent on Wikimedia Commons? I can understand the utility of this with picture, name of brand/car make. But in my opinion, the length/height, engines are useless on Wikimedia Commons. People are here to find pictures, not information necessary. Wikipedia is used for that. But you can change some things in the infobox and add year production maybe. Sincerely, Navigator84 Talk 20:23, 5 June 2018 (UTC+1)
- The infobox is designed to work across all topics, not just automobiles. People seem to have different views on what is useful or not to include in it, so others might find the dimensions/engine info relevant. I'm happy to add more info from Wikidata into the infobox, but production year seems to be a missing gap there at the moment - so I've asked about it at d:Wikidata:Project_chat#How_to_model_"manufactured_from_2001_to_2008"?. If that info can be added there, then it can be displayed here. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 00:53, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

- Hello 62.98.105.189 ! Sadly, I never saw (and never spotted) any Riich M5. This car is on the top of my Chinese To-spot list! This car is a real rarety. A M5 was spotted last year in Beijing: https://www.flickr.com/photos/27487434@N04/34939336331/ Sincerely, Navigator84 Talk 20:26, 5 June 2018 (UTC+1)
Reverting my edits[edit]
Hi, would you kindly tell me the reason why you have reverted my edits? Category:Škoda Rapid (China) is a subcategory to Category:SAIC Volkswagen automobiles. – ComradeUranium (keskustelu) 13:11, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hello Comrade, I removed your edits because I created the subcategory Škoda Rapid (China) for a specific model to the Chinese market. This specific model is the Rapid in its "real" sedan version. Different to the liftback model which is sold in other markets. But the Spacebak wagon/hatchback version is the same model in China than in Europe and so, I always categorized it as "Škoda Rapid Spaceback" and "SAIC Volkswagen automobiles".
- For Chinese-made foreign models, I always categorized them in their categories and in the JV category BUT if it is a specific model/version/new front model, I created some (sub)categories as "Volkswagen Lamando", "Volkswagen Jetta (China)", etc... Sincerely, Navigator84 Talk 15:24, 19 August 2018 (UTC+2)
- Alright, thanks for making this clear! – ComradeUranium (keskustelu) 13:28, 19 August 2018 (UTC)

Important message for file movers[edit]
A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect
user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.
Possible acceptable uses of this ability:
- To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
- To perform file name swaps.
- When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)
Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.
The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect
user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
About the name of Shanghai Maple Baofeng[edit]
Hi, many thanks to your recent uploads of Shanghai Maple vehicles! But shouldn’t the Shanghai Maple Baofeng be called as “Biaofeng”? Its Chinese name is “飚风” and “飚” is pronounce as “biao” in Mandarin Chinese. So is that a typo or it just an alternative name?--User3204 (talk) 14:38, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- God, you are 1000% right. Very sorry for the mistakes ... I change the name right now. Many thanks! Navigator84 Talk 22:41, 25 March 2020 (UTC+2).
Help with Chinese[edit]
Hi Navigator, could you tell me what the text on the doors of this vehicle means? Thanks, mr.choppers (talk)-en- 02:41, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Mr.choppers ! My Chinese is really poor, but thanks to my friend Tycho of ChinaCarHistory.com, I can tell you that the text means. The second line is 凉山 彝族 自治州 for Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture. The vehicle owned by the local government. Xichang is located in this prefecture. The first line means same : ꆃꎭꆈꌠꊨꏦꏱꅉꍏ but written in Yi script. Stay safely in this trouble time. Thank you. Navigator84 Talk 12:01, 28 March 2020 (UTC+2).
- Interesting! Never heard of Yi script before, but I will read the article now. Thanks. Perhaps Tycho (I don't know him, but I use his work all of the time) can help with this one, too? I found this photo on Flickr and uploaded it here, but I have a feeling it is not a Dongfeng after all. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 02:53, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

- Very interesting. I don't see a lot of these small trucks. They are in rural areas, rare in suburbs of great cities. So I'm very bad about of these companies which produce this king of vehicles. Many thanks for the link. Sincerely & stay safe. Navigator84 Talk 11:39, 10 April 2020 (UTC+2).

Be more careful with Depicts statements[edit]
Hi, I saw your recent edits to File:Toyota Corolla E170 -- Auto China -- 2014-04-23.jpg. Remember, Commons:Depicts should only be used to describe the concrete, specific things visible in the image -- if its not specifically visible, you should use other properties. What is the difference between Dongfeng Aeolus and Dongfeng Fengshen?[edit]
Hi. I noticed that you separated 2 categories of Dongfeng Fengshen E70 and Dongfeng Aeolus E70 to them. But Aeolus is actually the English name of Fengshen (according to English Wikipedia and other Chinese car websites). Which means that they are actually the same model isn't it? --User3204 (talk) 00:50, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hello! Yes Aeolus is the official English brand name of Dongfeng Fengshen subsidiary. But Dongfeng uses this name only recently on the back of its Fengshen vehicles. Such as for Forthing/Fengxing and Fengon/Fengguang brands. That's why I separated these cars. I wanted to separate Dongfeng vehicles which uses Dongfeng Fengshen as company name and Dongfeng logo and Dongfeng vehicles which uses Dongfeng Fengshen as company name and Aeolus "logo". Because this change marks a new strategy in the Fengshen brands by Dongfeng. And I still use Dongfeng because they still put Dongfeng logo on front vehicles, like GAC Trumpchi. This is just my opinion, not the official officially company truth. If I well remember, the first vehicles to get the Aeolus brand name on the back were the Fengshen A9 and AX5 in 2017. I not yet changed the name of my uploads of these both cars. If you're ok with this - or not - let me know ! Sincerely, Navigator84 Talk 09:36, 20 May 2020 (UTC+2).
MG[edit]
Hello Navigator84.
I do not agree to your change at the Chinese make MG. According to SAIC (click on Brand Hall and MG):
- In 2005, Nanjing Automotive Corporation acquired MG in the amount of 53 million pounds
- In 2007, Nanjing Automotive Corporation was acquired by SAIC MOTOR,resulting in the MG brand coming under the ownership of SAIC MOTOR.
So we have more than 1 manufacturer of Chinese MG: Nanjing + SAIC.
de:MG (chinesische Automarke) is 1 article for all manufacturers of the Chinese make MG. We need 1 category on commons for this. This was https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:MG_automobiles_(China)?uselang=de
Your choice was https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:MG_Motor_automobiles
But en:MG Motor or de:MG Motor UK (MG Motor UK) is a company in the United Kingdom for import and sale in the present and assembling only up to 2014. This is not the correct category for the Chinese make MG. --Buch-t (talk) 15:44, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
- Seen? --Buch-t (talk) 07:21, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
Hello Buch-t! Sorry for the delay, I read last month your message and forgot to answer you after my contributions hiatus. I realize my mistakes when I did the modifications. In fact, I just wanted to unify all MG vehicles since its Chinese comeback under a same and only one "Brand automobiles/vehicles" category. I reasoned by brand and not by manufacturer. And I choose MG Motor automobiles and not MG automobiles (China) because it I thought it was better (or maybe "MG (China) automobiles" is even more better?). And when I choose "MG Motor automobiles" I didn't think about MG Motor UK but because MG is known as MG Motor in "western" countries. Even in Thailand or Philippines, MG is MG Motor.
For the manufacturers, that's right that Nanjing Auto purchased MG brand and range. But they produced only a small batch of TF roadster and 7/7L sedan itself in China. NAC also developped the 3SW (rebadged Streetwise) but was produced after the SAIC purchasing. I checked my picture archives and all these vehicles (3SW, 7/7L and TF) got the NAC badge on the trunk (南京名爵 - Nánjīng Míngjué - NAC MG) even when it was produced under SAIC control. And the next MG vehicles fully developped by SAIC got the SAIC Group badge - 上汽集团 - (MG6 in 2009, MG3 in 2011, ...).
I propose :
- to creat a new category "Category:MG (China) automobiles" for all NAC/SAIC MG vehicles. And I can add "Category:Nanjing MG automobiles" to the MG 3SW / 7-7L / Chinese TF. And we can still use "Category:MG Motor automobiles for MG 3/TF (maybe also MG6?) assembled in UK before Longbridge factory closure.
OR
- we still use "Category:MG Motor automobiles" for all NAC/SAIC MG vehicles (as Renault automobiles, VW automobiles, which list all MG-branded vehicles). And creat "Category:MG Motor UK" for all MG activities in UK under Chinese control. And creat two new categories about manufacturers : "Category:Nanjing MG automobiles" for 3SW/7-7L/TF and "Category:SAIC MG automobiles" and we consider MG just as other sino-foreign JV. But I'm quite afraid about redundancy between last one and first one because they will got almost same vehicles categories.
I really want to seperate the brand under the car is sold and the company which produce the vehicle.
PS: Here a very interesting article about early time of Nanjing MG : https://chinacarhistory.com/2018/12/24/the-original-chinese-mg3-mg5-that-almost-made-it-to-the-market/
Sincerely, Navigator84 Talk 12:11, 19 January 2021 (UTC+2).
- In Germany MG Motor is unusual - MG is used.
- One new main category for all MG cars built by companies of China will be ideal for de:MG (chinesische Automarke). No preference for MG automobiles (China) or MG (China) automobiles, but don't like something like MG Motor automobiles (China).
- Subcategories for Nanjing MG and SAIC MG are ok - and necessary, when you want to put Nanjing MG to the Nanging concern and SAIC MG to the SAIC concern.
- For the English company we have Category:MG Motor. Wikidata is correct. Subcategory Category:MG Motor automobiles with a lot of subcategories for the models. Were all of these cars assembled in the UK? I doubt. Wikidata is not correct.
- I think that Category:MG Hector is a model from MG Motor India, not Chinese, not English.
- Category:MG 5 (Thailand) from Thailand, not Chinese, not English. --Buch-t (talk) 08:04, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, I will replace Category:MG Motor automobiles for Category:MG (China) automobiles and creat Category:Nanjing MG vehicles for 3SW/7-7L/TF and Category:SAIC MG vehicles for 2009+ China-made MG automobiles. To simplify, I will replace Category:MG Motor for Category:MG Motor UK for UK-made MG vehicles and creat Category:MG Motor India and Category:MG Motor Thailand for MG models produced in these countries.
- Sincerely, Navigator84 Talk 14:44, 23 January 2021 (UTC+2).
I love your pictures![edit]
Hi Navigator84, I wanted to take a little time to say that I loved looking through your galleries on Commons, and also your posts on Flickr. Many of your vehicles photographed I have never heard of before, and I am greatly interested in Chinese automotive brands, especially low speed electric vehicles (LSEV). I just have one suggestion: your gallery page for all your China uploads does not load fully, so if you have the time, could you please change it so the whole page loads? Thank you, and again, I love your uploads! DestinationFearFan (talk) 16:44, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hello DestinationFearFan. Thank you for your interest of my pictures. I have no more time to add some pictures on my Flickr page but I'll try to do soon. Chinese cars market is huge and so interesting with lots of unknown vehicles outside the country. I learn a lot years after years. I know my gallery page doesn't work well. I have the same problem. Maybe because of the number of pictures. That's why I created gallery page for some brands. I have to creat new ones. I appreciated also your work to expand Commons pictures collection ! Sincerely, Navigator84 Talk 19:49, 1st May 2021 (UTC+2).
Thanks for responding! DestinationFearFan (talk) 15:37, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
Ford Transit[edit]
The Transit categories were fine and didn't need some clueless editor sticking their oar in where it's not wanted. Go do something productive with your time that doesn't involve creating a whole heap of mess for others to fix. –Davey2010Talk 21:57, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
- Hello. Only your misunderstanding of the Ford Transit Chinese production and your so high arrogance can be satisfied of the current categorization of Transit pictures taken in Mainland China. I invite you to take some minutes of your very very very very very very very very very very precious time to check the history of Ford Transit production in Jiangxi province by Jiangling Ford. And not only the English page of Transit where there are plenty of incorrect information. How we can be satisfied to categorize 2010s Transit picture in a 2000s Transit category? How we can be satisfied to categorize Transit pictures spotted in Hong Kong as Transit (China) category while no one of these were produced on Chinese soil ....
- I just hope there is only one person like you on Wikimedia Commons. Not sincerely from a clueless editor, Navigator84 Talk 08:01, 18 June 2021 (UTC+2).
- Hello, Right could you send me say 5-10 van or car cateogrieis where they follow this China category thing because so far the Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter, Peugeot 206, Renault Mégane Scénic I and Volkswagen Beetle Dune are all under non-china categories.
- ((Iveco Daily (China) is categoried the same way as the transit, Volkswagen Jetta (China, 2002) is categorised under "your way"),
- If I'm wrong I will revert all my reverts but so far I'm seeing nothing that supports your way?, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:08, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- Sincerely I still don't understand what is your problem with my work ...
- I only created xxxx (China) categories for vehicles which are produced in China AND have some differences (longer, different name, new front-end, other segment) with vehicles known otherwhere. For example : Category:Peugeot 308 (China) : a sedan only produced and sold in China. It has the same name than a car produced in Europe and South America but very different.
- But in other side, there are lots of vehicles which are produced in China BUT are similar to others in the world : Renault Kadjar, Volkswagen Polo, Mazda CX-5, ... I only added the JV categories for the pictures.
- Third case : vehicles produced in China and the name is only used in China : I never created xxxx (China) categories for these vehicles : , Category:Volkswagen Magotan, Category:Volkswagen Sagitar, etc ...
- Last case : imported vehicles. I never created xxxx (China) categories for these vehicles.
- According to your examples :
- Citroën C3-XR is only produced in China and the name is only used here ==> no Citroën C3-XR (China) category ...
- Peugeot 206 was produced in China, but the car was similar to others ==> no Peugeot 206 (China) category ...
- Volkswagen Lamando GTS is a sport version of the Lamando which is a model specific to China. The name is only used here ==> no Volkswagen Lamando (China) category ...
- Iveco Daily : has specific versions for the Chinese market. That's why I created this category Category:Iveco Daily.
- Renault Mégane Scénic : imported model. No needing Renault Scénic (China) category ...
- Volkswagen Beetle Dune : imported model. No needing Volkswagen Beetle Dune (China) category ...
- I think you are quite confused between vehicles seen/spotted and vehicles produced in a place. That's why "my way" is different with your one. That's why I think your categories Category:Ford Transit (2000) - (China) or Category:Ford Transit (2006) - (China) are irrelevant. And that's why I wanted to creat new categories for Ford Transit, because in China the Transit can be different than in Europe. And because I never saw categories like Ford Focus (2018) - (UK), Ford Focus (2018) - (Germany), Ford Focus (2018) - (France), Ford Focus (2018) - (China), Ford Focus (2018) - (Italy), Ford Focus (2018) - (Spain),...
- I uploaded about 9.000 pictures of vehicles taken in China since April 2012, I never had issues with that. I never said that "my way" is the best or the unique so I think I didn't deserve to be rudely insulted by you. And according to your last modifications, you don't care and don't wait my explanations ... If you prefer to waste your time to satisfy your ego. Just a stupid way. Navigator84 Talk 17:46, 20 June 2021 (UTC+2).
- Hi, I sincerely apologise for the above message that shouldn't have been left, Do you have any categories that are in the "(China, 2nd gen.)" format ?, Also this new category isn't helpful as I only can remember the Transits by years not what generations they are which poses another problem. Yeah not gonna lie I am confused lol, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 17:05, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, I've self reverted and all images should be in their respective categories now however I disagree strongly with the "1st/2nd/3rd gen" layout - IMHO they're much better in a yearly format and would ask if you would consider changing them to a year format (I can do this no problem but don't want to if you disagree), If you don't agree then my next step would be starting an RFC to see what others think, thanks, –Davey2010Talk 19:12, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- wow all this drama because you think Ford Transit (2xxx) is better than Ford Transit (China, 2nd gen).... Sincerely I really don't care if it is Ford Transit (China, 2008) or Ford Transit (China, 2nd gen.). I just wanted to rightly categorize China-made Transit ... For the new categories, the better should be :
- -> 1st gen : Ford Transit (China, 1997-2016)
- ==> 1st gen 1st version : Ford Transit (China, 1997)
- ==> 1st gen 2nd version : Ford Transit (China, 2006)
- -> 2nd gen : Ford Transit (China, 2008- )
- ==> 2nd gen 1st version : Ford Transit (China, 2008)
- ==> 2nd gen 2nd version : Ford Transit (China, 2013)
- ==> 2nd gen 3rd version : Ford Transit Pro [new name]
- -> 3rd gen (similar to Ford Transit Custom) : Ford Transit (China, 2016)
- Tell me what do you think about that. Sincerely Navigator84 Talk 19:39, 25 June 2021 (UTC+2).
- Fuck you. That's what I think. Seeing as I'm causing too much drama in future I wont bother discussing jack fucking shit with you. We're done. –Davey2010Talk 17:55, 25 June 2021 (UTC)

Chery Vehicles[edit]
Can you upload photo of
- Riich M2 or M3 (3-door)
- Chery H98 Higgo
- Rely V8/Weier B13 MPV
- Karry Elephant EV Truck?
Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 93.148.109.49 (talk) 09:25, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
- Hello ! It is not easy to upload photos that I have not ... I am not in China right now so I can not take pictures for the moment.
- - Riich M2/M3 : apparently these models were only shown at shows or produced in a small batch. Not officially sold. At Auto China 2008, Chery unveiled the Faira family with 6 members : 3dr hatchback (unveiled as Riich M2 and M3 EV at Auto China 2010), 5dr hatchback (unveiled as Riich M1 at Auto Shanghai 2009), notchback/sedan (unveiled as Riich M5 at Auto Shanghai 2009), wagon/crossover (unveiled as Riich X1 at Auto Shanghai 2009), a coupe and a cabriolet. Only M1, M5 and X1 were really sold in China.
- - Rely V8 : similar to the M2/M3. Unveiled in 2005 or 2006 as Chery B13, renamed as Chery Riich 5 at Auto China 2008 and another at Auto Shanghai 2009 (Rely V8). No production. In 2013, there was a plan to produce the vehicle under new brand but never no more information. Always strange to not produce a vehicle that you spent years in R&D....
- - Karry Dolphin & Higgo : when I will see one, I will take picture for sure.
Sincerely, Navigator84 Talk 16:38, 18th June 2021 (UTC+2).
Re: Senova[edit]
Hi, sure. All of these cars are members of the same latin-nameplate family and previous order wasn't logical at all. I don't see the point of calling category "Senova Zhixing" if it's still a Senova X5, but after facelift. This name matters only in Chinese language, latin order remains the same. Talking about Senova Zhidao, this car is just a second-generation Senova D70. Correct me if I'm wrong, cheers. Michge (talk) 17:06, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- BAIC Group is a very confusing company. They often change strategy with new brands, rebranding vehicles, name changing, ...
- For example the "D70" was early badged 绅宝 D280/D320 (绅宝 is the Chinese of Senova) and one year after its launch it was simply badged "绅宝". But at that time, the company and the media called the vehicle D70 but no one D70 badge on it. The vehicle was replaced by a new car which was early shown as 2nd gen D70 (in Chinese) during conception but renamed as Senova Zhidao at its launch during the 2018 Auto Guangzhou. In July 2019, The car was rebranded in the Beijing brand (which merges the Senova and BJEV ranges in only one range) and renamed as Beijing U7.
- The case of Zhixing SUV is similar. The preproduction car was unveiled as 2nd gen X55 (in Chinese). But the production model was renamed Zhixing when it was launch during 2018 Auto Chengdu. The car was renamed as Beijing X5 in July 2020 (one year after the Zhidao sedan...).
- The case of Senova Zhida X35/Beijing Zhida X3 is a little bit different. Because the X35 badge was on the car. And Zhida was the Chinese name. In this case, I can admit you are right. It can be considered as 2nd gen Senova X35 (pre production model) and then as Beijing X3 (production model).
- To resume my work here; when a Chinese vehicle has an alphanumeric or english name and it is badged with this name, I created a category with its name. But when a Chinese vehicle is badged with its chinese name (= with Chinese characters). But there are also some exceptions to that.

ORA R1[edit]
From all I can find, the ORA R1 and ORA Black Cat are the same vehicle, and ORA Black Cat is the most commonly used name in English. Thus I moved the R1 files to the ORA Black Cat category.
If you have information suggesting these aren't the same vehicle, please inform me. Otherwise, I'll re-move the files and re-redirect the category to harmonize the naming of ORA vehicles, which use the most commonly used names. --Veikk0.ma (talk) 17:04, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hello Veikk0.ma. I am sorry for my very late answer but I forgot to answering you ...
- Thank you for your work, but I just want to say one thing : The ORA Black Cat was early unveiled and sold under "R1" name. That's why I created ORA R1 category. Great Wall renamed the vehicle some months after its market launch as ORA Black Cat. I think both categories can coexisted. Thank you. Navigator84 (talk) 10:14, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
Did the SEAT Alhambra ever sold in China?[edit]
Hi. Just want you to know that someone spotted a SEAT Alhambra in China. Which is pretty odd since as far as I know this model was not sold in China. I know SEAT did import some Leon in China but Alhambra seems to very odd and rare to appear in China. -User3204 (talk) 22:22, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hello ! Seat Alhambra was briefly sold in China, probably in 2013-2014. It was unveiled at the 2012 Auto Guangzhou, alongside the Ibiza family (SC, 5dr and wagon). According to its autohome page, the Alhambra was sold for 299.200 to 365.700 RMB at that time. I only saw one time an Alhambra in China. It was in a highway around Chengdu in 2016, but I wasn't able to take pics ... I saw several Leon and only one Ibiza (wagon version). So Seat is very hard to find in China. I hope you're well and I'll try to go to China this Spring. Maybe in Guangdong, Beijing and Shanghai. And maybe other places. If you want talk more, my ID Wechat is : Dam-Dam84.

- Hi! Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for letting me know that the SEAT Alhambra is actually sold in China! Since I rarely use WeChat, I think we can use Instagram to talk more instead (mine is the one with a Blue Cortina as an icon which you have followed already). Since I will visit China as well (in few weeks), I will probably bring more Chinese car spot and I hope you have a great journey and great spot in China as well! :D -User3204 01:30, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
